Our first sickness

Tuesday early morning Rylee woke up screaming with a fever and trouble breathing. It was really scary. She was grunting and had shallow respirations. We thought for sure it was pneumonia again and contemplated going to the ER. We decided to try Tylenol first. After about an hour she was much calmer and her breathing seemed to be better. We took her to the pediatrician that morning and they swabbed her nose to check for the flu and RSV. They also checked a blood count and listened to her lungs. Luckily, the tests came back negative and they told us it was just a viral illness and should slowly get better on its own. They also said her throat was red and irritated but no signs of strep throat. Lance and I both stayed home and took turns letting her sleep in our arms.

Today she is doing better. Her fever is gone and she seems to be breathing easier. I think her throat is still bothering her because she keeps grunting and clearing her throat. She's also developed a runny nose and is drooling a lot. She is pretty fussy and wants to sleep a lot. I am home again today with her... officially using up all of my sick/ vacation time. (I used it all for my maternity leave). Lets hope she stays well for a while after this.

We recently interviewed a nanny (stay at home mom of 2) about watching Rylee during the day. It went really well. It would be a little more expensive than a day care, but she would get lots more attention. She lives a 1/2 mile from us too which would be very convenient. We are still thinking it over and may still interview other day cares, but at least we have some options!

I will keep you updated on Rylee's status. She is currently sleeping peacefully in my arms. Heaven!

  1. I agree the first sickness is scary but you both did WELL! Glad to hear she's getting better, poor little girl! Wow a nanny would be great and being so close is great too. Does she have small kids?
