Spring break 2017

I took the week of spring break off of work in hopes of going somewhere relaxing and tropical, like our trip to Hawaii last year.  Unfortunately since Lance recently started a new job he doesn't quite have enough vacation time yet.  Instead, we did a staycation.  It was a blast!

Sunday:  We started our spring break festivities with Beauty and The Beast.  The kids are old enough now that they really enjoy going to the movies and can sit quietly through the whole thing, which makes it much more enjoyable for momma!  What a great movie!
Monday: We spent the day at the Olympia Children's Museum.  There were a few sun breaks throughout the day so the kids were able to spend some time outside.  They had fun playing together and checking out all the cool activities that the museum has to offer.
Tuesday: We started the day with Rylee's horse lessons.
After horse lessons they had a picnic in the family room and watched the movie Storks.  When Lance got home from work we decided to try something new... skating!  The kids were a little nervous and unsteady at first, but once they got the hang of it they absolutely loved it!  Rylee especially, she did not want to leave.  I have a feeling she'll be asking to go skating again very soon!  Lance and I got the hang of it pretty quickly... I forgot how much fun skating can be!
Here is a video of them skating.  I think next time Rylee will be ready to skate without help.
Wednesday: We went to a bouncy house for some jumping and game playing.
Wednesday night I met up with some girls from work for some crafting at The Makery in Tacoma.  It was so much fun and I absolutely love my sign.  Now to find the perfect place for it...
Thursday: We finally got some sunshine!!!  To celebrate, we went park hopping.  We checked out two super fun parks in Sumner, Loyalty Park and Rainier View Park.  We spent the evening going out for pizza and then on a walk around the neighborhood.  I hope the sun lasts through the weekend!
Tomorrow we head to Skamania Lodge for the weekend.  Stay tuned!

Fun with friends

Our friends Julie and Daniel just had a beautiful new baby boy, Jacob.  We went to visit and he slept almost the whole time.  It was so nice to get some baby snuggles!!!  Rylee absolutely loved Jacob and is excited to "babysit" this summer!  =)
A few weekends ago my girlfriends and I took our annual trip to the Tulalip Resort and Casino.  It was so much fun.  We relaxed, went shopping, ate room service, drank margaritas at the pool, went dancing and just had a great time together.  I just love these ladies.
Two weekends ago our friends Dino and Chenda treated us to a four course meal with cocktail pairings at Bar Bistro in Tacoma.  The food and drinks were absolutely amazing and it was great to catch up with this fun group of people.
Friday we celebrated St. Patty's Day with our friends Kori and Travis (and their kids) at the Half Lion Brewery.  It was our first time there and it was great, and so close to us!  We'll definitely be back again soon.  Plus, it's family friendly!
The kids had a blast listening to the bagpipes and drums of Puget Sound Firefighters Pipes & Drums.  The  kids even got to use the light up drumsticks!  So cool.
Saturday night we had a date night (with friends) to go see Eric Church at the Tacoma Dome.  It was a great show and we had so much fun we forgot to take any pictures!  Cheers to a great month of March spent with friends!

Winter update

We've been keeping busy this winter and trying to find fun things to do despite all of the rain and gloom.  We are definitely ready for some sunshine and warm weather!
Rylee continues to take horse lessons.  It's hard in the winter as the ground is muddy and the horses are dirty, but she still seems to enjoy it.  She's also been doing carriage driving and ground work with Bosley.
Carson has been taking swim lessons and is absolutely LOVING it!  He's been working on diving for rings and floating on his back/ backstroke.  He spends most of the lesson underwater as that's his preferred way to swim!  He's getting ready for summer.
Rylee just finished basketball season.  Her team actually won their last game and then got to celebrate at Menchies.  She really enjoyed playing basketball and hopefully will want to play next year.  I think she only made 1 basket during a game this year (not for lack of trying), but had lots of rebounds and good passes.  We had to buy a basketball hoop for the backyard so she can practice up for next year.  =)
